The soldier took a look,
At his fellow men.
The men who soon,
He might never see again.
The death and destruction,
Screamed in his ears.
Sounds of agony,
He wish he couldn't hear.
Soldiers no more than boys,
Crying for their mothers.
The pain of one,
Who just lost a younger brother.
He doesn't understand,
Why innocent must die.
No point to the pain,
The never ending cries.
War seemed so glorious,
A chance to prove his worth.
So he signed his name,
Now he must go forth.
Forth into the battle,
That never will be won.
The war may end.
But the fighting won't be done.
Stupid little fights,
Over such trivial matters.
No reason for the murder,
The endless gory splatters.
He walked onto the battlefield,
Reflecting in his eyes.
The sight of thousands,
Who recently have died.
He heard the bang first,
Then everything slowed down.
He felt a numbing calm,
As he slammed into the ground.
His last thought,
That passed through his mind.
"Now i am free,
Now my life is mine."
